1. The Parthenon was dedicated to the Goddess Athena. It makes sense considering Adam LeQuire created a gigantic statue of Athena for the Parthenon in Nashville.
2. The metopes and pediments are sculptures that surrounded the Parthenon. The metopes tell stories of battles. Inside the Parthenon upstairs there are recreations of these sculptures. The pediments show pictures of the Gods. One sculpture is of Athena’s birth.
3. The Parthenon is made with Doric style columned surrounding its base. It relates to the time period of 5th century BCE.
4. The Parthenon in Nashville was constructed in 1897 for a fair. The Parthenon was to be the centerpiece of the entire fair. There were other buildings built but The Parthenon was the only exact replica.
5. No. This monument is very interesting. However, I don’t feel any special affinity towards it. The most amazing thing about it is that it is an exact replica. I can physically see such a large monument and wonder how the Greeks were able to build such a thing.
